{pike place}

Oh the joy of going to the market. And going to Pike Place is truly like none other. Sitting on 9 acres and featuring nearly 200 businesses/190 crafts people/120 farmers, who rent space daily...this century old market is absolutely incredible. You can read more about the history and services here! {our sunny saturday}
This past week it rained every day. The clouds were thick and the air was quite chilly. Though I loved it, I also felt SO fatigued. Needless to say, Anthony and I were thrilled to see {and feel} the sun shining today! We decided to venture down by the piers, sit by the water, watch the action along the shore, eat delicious appetizers for lunch, people watch and just get out and walk.

We love this city! There is always something to discover around every corner. After eating and spending time near the water we went to Pike Place. {Boy was it crowded today!!} I love sunny Saturdays spent with my husband!

{bowl of flavor}
Still cracking down on all of the recipes I have...this was my latest ::
And, let me say...this was one of my most favorite dinner experiements! Well, it wasn't too much of an experiement, as I stayed {pretty} close to the original recipe. Let me tell you :: this is definitely a bowl full of flavor! As I'm continuing trying out all the hundreds of recipe's I have collected...I thought this would be a good place to start back up! I got the recipe from Robin Miller {well, no, not personally of course!}.{Honey-Jalapeno Chicken with Sesame Soba Noodles} 12 ounces soba noodles 1 jalapeno, seeds removed 1/3 cup honey 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 2 to 3 tablespoons water 2 teaspoons olive oil 1 /2 rotisserie chicken, shredded or sliced 3 tablespoons soy sauce 2 teaspoons sesame oil 1/4 cup chopped scallions, green part only 2 tablespoons pickled ginger, minced }Cook soba noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside (or refrigerate until later in the week). }In a blender or food processor, combine jalapenos, honey, cilantro, and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and black pepper and puree until smooth. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of water to the mixture until desired consistency is achieved. }Pour the 2 teaspoons of olive oil into a preheated skillet. Add the shredded chicken and the blended sauce and cook until heated through. }In a medium bowl, combine cooked soba noodles, soy sauce, sesame oil, scallions, and pickled ginger. Toss and then transfer to serving bowl. Pour heated chicken and sauce over noodles. This was very yummy! I will definitely be making it again.

{monkey bread}
This week... MONKEY BREAD ::
(recipe from :: Rachael Ray)
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, chilled 3 T mape syrup 1/3 C plus 2 T granulated sugar 1/3 C brown sugar 1 T ground cinnamon 2 C flour 1 T baking poder 1/2 t salt 3/4 C buttermilk, chilled*
Position a rack in the bottom third of the oven and preheat to 425. In a small bowl, microwave 4 T butter and the maple syrup on high till melted (about 45 seconds). In a small bowl, stir together 1/3C granulated sugar, the brown sugar and the cinnamon. In a food processor, combine the flour, baking powder, the remaining 2 T granulated sugar and the salt; pulse to combine. Cut the remaining 1 stick chilled butter into small pieces and pulse w/ the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form. Pulse in the buttermilk until the dough just comes together. Transfer to a lightly floured work surface; pat into a 10 inch square (the dough will be sticky!!). !uarter the dough, then cut each quarter int 16 equal pieces; roll into balls.
Dip each ball in the maple butter, then coat iwht the sugar mixture. Place 5-6 coated balls into each muffin cup and press to compact.
Bake unitl cooked through and golden, 15-17 minutes. (Tent w/ foil if tops darken too quickly.) Transfer pan to a rack to cool for 10 minutes. Loosen sides and invert...turn right side up. Serve warm!

Ok - that was the recipe. I followed it exact (until I got bored of it). I'll have to go back and follow it again. But, my version worked. Tasted good at least, but most fell apart.
I've never had monkey bread before! Is that weird? It's soooo yummy. It actually reminds me of coffee cake. (Well, the kind my sisters and I bake.)
Either way - you should try this! So good. Top each with some sweetness :: stir together 1 cup confectioners' sugar and 2 T milk and drizzle over top. (I didn't but the recipe does suggest it.) Oh - and if you don't have buttermilk on hand - do what I did :: add vinegar or lemon or creme of tarter to milk! Let it sit 5 minutes and then use.
HAPPY DAY!
